Thai House Restaurant & Takeaway
About This Spot
Stepping into Thai House Restaurant & Takeaway on Horton Street feels a little like finding a well-kept secret nestled within the everyday hum of Port Macquarie. The space doesn’t promise a polished fine-dining scene or hushed elegance, but instead offers a welcoming, bright spot where the rhythms of a relaxed local eatery meet the spirited pace of a kitchen devoted to bold, satisfying flavours.
The atmosphere here is unpretentious and warm — a place where the focus is clearly on the craft of each dish and the simple joy of sharing a good meal. It’s the kind of spot that fills steadily with a mix of familiar faces and curious newcomers, drawn by the promise of genuine, hearty Thai cooking. Plates arrive at a steady rhythm, each one fragrant with fresh herbs, spices, and a confident balance of heat and sweetness, suggesting that the kitchen leans on tradition without hesitation.
What makes Thai House stand out is not just the food itself, but the way it fits into the flow of life in Port Macquarie. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick takeaway or settling in to share a few dishes, you’ll notice the ease with which the staff move between tables — attentive without being intrusive, their warmth as refreshing as the lemongrass and kaffir lime that often scent the dishes.
While the menu is packed with inviting options — from crispy soft shell crab bathed in creamy curry sauce to vibrant, chilli-kissed stir-fries — it’s the balance of generous portions, honest flavors, and reliable quality that truly draws repeat visits. The environment encourages you to slow down and feel comfortable, whether you’re navigating the menu solo or exchanging stories over a shared meal with friends.
For those who appreciate authentic culinary experiences that feel grounded in the community, Thai House delivers a quietly memorable encounter. It’s not a showcase of theatrics but rather a snapshot of what happens when skilled home-style cooking meets genuine hospitality, right in the heart of Port Macquarie.

Oh my gooodness!!!! Don’t be discouraged by other reviews I’ve come all the way from Sydney and I can say this is a hidden gem that I will forever remember! Beautiful portions, reasonable prices wow! Such tender meats and flavours thank you for your beautiful food but most importantly the service

Discovered this gem last night and back again tonight. I suppose that says it all! Fantastic menu choices, fantastic fresh ingredients, expertly prepared. Very friendly attentive service. This is NOT a romantic place with cosy seating areas but it does have a really welcoming atmosphere

Best food in Port Mac, I like this more than the stunned mullet

Unexpected surprise. We had tamarind prawn, massaman beef, Thai fried rice, chilli basil chicken. All of the meals were delicious and full of flavour. Definitely need to check it out if you are in the area and want Thai food
